customer: Flyvende Grise
Flyvende Grise asked if I could scale up my soft robot prototypes and build a pair of 150% scale breathing robotic lungs for a new production called the The Robot Project.
The final Robot Lungs have separate upper and lower sections to imitate shallow and deep breathing. The interface is manual manipulation of air chambers, allowing for accurate and playful realtime experimentation (that met the production budget).
They are made from a combination of soft silicone mouldings, 3D printed and laser cut connections and inserts and sealed latex chambers. The lungs are actuated with air.
